Equip is a virtual healthcare company providing comprehensive, evidence-based treatment for eating disorders. Founded by Kristina Saffran, who led the nonprofit Project HEAL for over a decade helping people access and afford care, and Erin Parks, PhD, a clinical psychologist and eating disorder researcher, Equip is driven by a mission to make recovery accessible to all.
Each Equip patient receives a dedicated five-person care team including a therapist, dietitian, physician, peer mentor, and family mentor. This multidisciplinary approach enables personalized treatment plans addressing the medical, nutritional, therapeutic, and practical needs of the patient and their family. Delivered virtually, Equip's model empowers families to overcome eating disorders together from the comfort of home.
Since launching in 2019, Equip has rapidly expanded across the United States through partnerships with major insurers and state Medicaid programs. With a recent $58M Series B fundraise, the company aims to provide its comprehensive virtual treatment in all 50 states for individuals of all ages. While changing the eating disorder care landscape is an immense undertaking, Equip's strong early outcomes and mission-driven team of employees with lived experience position it to drive lasting impact.
