Crusoe Energy Systems provides Digital Flare Mitigation (DFM) technology that captures stranded natural gas from oil wells to power modular data centers for computing applications. The company currently operates around 100 mobile data centers across oil fields in Colorado, North Dakota, and Montana. By using otherwise wasted gas to power energy-intensive computing, Crusoe's technology helps reduce CO2-equivalent emissions.
Crusoe was founded in 2018 by Chase Lochmiller and Charles Cavness. Lochmiller previously worked in quantitative research at high-frequency trading firms, while Cavness has a background in the energy industry. Since launching, Crusoe has raised over $350 million from investors including Valor Equity Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, and the Winklevoss twins to scale its flare mitigation deployments, expand into renewable energy, and launch the CrusoeCloud platform for high-performance computing clients.
By joining Crusoe, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative technologies at the intersection of energy and computing, with a mission-driven company making a tangible environmental impact. However, the company will need to continue demonstrating the reliability and cost-effectiveness of its flare mitigation technology while navigating complex regulatory and logistical hurdles.
